Ir Gary Ko joined Kum Shing as a Contracts Manager in 1991 and was appointed as an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer in 2004. Prior to joining Kum Shing, Gary has worked for China Light & Power.

Gary holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Arts in English for the Professionals and a Master of Business Administration. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, Registered Electrical Worker (Grade H & C) and Fellow of both The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and The Institution of Engineering and Technology.  He is also admitted by the Mainland authorities as a Professor-level Senior Engineer.

To serve in the industry, Gary is the President of The Hong Kong Electrical & Mechanical Contractors’ Association and the Vice President of The Hong Kong Federation of Electrical & Mechanical Contractors. He is an Honorary Advisor of the Hong Kong & Kowloon Electrical Engineering & Appliances Trade Workers Union, and was a Council Member, Chairman of Electrical Division, Gas & Energy Division, Continuing Professional Development Committee, Professional Assessment Committee and Discipline Advisory Panel – Electrical of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

In the community, Gary is the Vice Chairman of Admissions, Budgets and Allocations Committee of The Community Chest.

He has served on various government panels/committees and currently holds the position of Chairman of the Lift and Escalator Safety Advisory Committee. He was also a member in the Election Committees for The Chief Executive Election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the National People’s Congress in 2011 and 2021.
