Mr. Rex Wong, JP, joined Kum Shing as Project Manager in 2008. He has led the corporation’s business development in the Mainland since 2009 and has been successful in kick starting a real estate investment and property development practice focusing on urban renewal and adaptive reuse projects. Having implemented a total quality management system, he led the corporation to win the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) Quality Award.

Rex was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2015. Since being promoted to Deputy CEO, he has demonstrated competent leadership by securing important business and transformation opportunities. He was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 2019.

Rex has been appointed to serve on various advisory and statutory bodies since 2011 while actively contributing to the development of the industry and various aspects of society. He is currently a member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, offering strategies to address the public housing needs of Hong Kong citizens. He also plays a part in the city’s higher education development by serving as a Council Member of the City University of Hong Kong (“CityU”) and a member of the Committee on Self-Financing Post-secondary Education.

As for the infrastructure sector, Rex has been appointed by the HKSAR Government as a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Council, a member of the Construction Industry Council (“CIC”), as well as a member of some relevant committees, such as the Common Spatial Data Advisory Committee and the Steering Committee of the New Energy Transport Fund. Rex is also the First Vice-President of the Hong Kong Construction Association, a board member of CIC-Zero Carbon Park, and the Chairman of CIC’s Committee on Construction Safety.

In addition to his involvement in the housing, education, and infrastructure sectors, Rex is actively supporting Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem development. He is a member of the HK Tech 300 Investment Sub-Committee at CityU, an Academy Advisor to CityU’s Academy of Innovation, and one of the judges for the Elevator Pitch Competition at Hong Kong Science & Technology Park. He also serves as a member of the Hong Kong Housing Society, Vice Chairman of the Major Infrastructure Committee of the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce, and Panel of Judges for the Quality Award of the HKMA.

In terms of local and Mainland affairs, Rex is a Committee Member of the All-China Youth Federation, a member of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and the Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Youth Federation.

Among Rex’s professional qualifications and education, he is a Registered Architect in the United States. He received the Honor Award for Excellence in Design from GSAPP at Columbia University in New York and served as President of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Hong Kong chapter in 2017. Rex is recognized as a LEED AP by the US Green Building Council, as well as a BEAM Pro by the Hong Kong Green Building Council. He also holds an EMBA degree from the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program.

In 2020, he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Hong Kong Government. In 2022, he received the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.
