Kum Shing has participated in numerous power plant projects over the years, witnessing the development of Hong Kong’s power plants towards green energy, while contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Leveraging our accumulated experiences, trust, and reputation, Kum Shing successfully secured the Emissions Control Project at the Castle Peak Power Station (CPPS) in 2008. In 2010, we won the coal mill maintenance service contract for CPPS, which also marked the first-ever use of CLP’s New Engineering Contract (NEC) in Hong Kong. Subsequently, Kum Shing was awarded the D1 and D2 projects at the Black Point Power Station (BPPS), with the D1 project setting a record at that time for Kum Shing’s highest single contract amount.

The gas-fired generation unit built for D1 commenced operation in mid-2020. Upon commencement, the proportion of natural gas in this unit increased from less than 30% in 2019 to approximately 50%, contributing significantly to carbon reduction. In 2022 and 2023, additional gas-fired generation units were installed for the CLP D2 project and the HK Electric’s Lamma Power Station, aiming to further reduce carbon emissions generated by energy production and work towards achieving net-zero by 2050.
