Black Point Power Station D2 Project

Kum Shing installed major equipment in the D2 unit at Black Point Power Station, including gas turbine, generator, steam turbine and other plant facilities, as well as all electronic, control and instrumentation equipment of the entire unit. The project will contribute to increasing the proportion of natural gas power generation and phasing out coalfired power generation in the future.

Alignment work, another crucial part of equipment and pipe jointing, must be precisely done to avoid any mistakes. Therefore, the CCGT Project Team established strict guidelines for alignment requirements, which must be regulated to within 0.01 mm (1/100 mm). Taking the gas turbine engine, one of the primary units weighing more than 460 tons, as an example, the team accomplished the alignment within only six weeks.

With the gradual retirement of coal-fired units and the commissioning of new natural gas units, the proportion of natural gas in the power generation fuel mix will gradually increase.
