One Boat, One Rhythm – The Spirit of Kum Shing on the Water

這，就是金城康體會龍舟隊的訓練，在一槳一槳之間，凝聚企業文化。

龍舟是金城延續數十年的傳統。年復一年，不同崗位與專業的同事投放時間、精力與熱誠，全情投入這項團隊運動。它的意義不止於成績，更在於建立默契與凝聚力。

A Tradition Beyond the Office Walls

To understand what keeps this tradition alive, we spoke with Cody, the organizer of Kum Shing’s dragon boat team.

“We talk a lot about teamwork and belonging,” Cody said. “Dragon boating lets us live those values.”

The sport itself is demanding. Dragon boat racing engages the arms, shoulders, core, legs, and cardiovascular system. Improved stamina, better posture, reduced stress, and sharper focus at work are commonly cited by many team members. Just as importantly, the training environment places strong emphasis on encouragement and emotional safety.

“When teammates cheer each other on, even the toughest training feels achievable,” Cody explained. “Just show up with an open mind.”

Shared challenges on the water have also created lasting connections across departments. Colleagues who once rarely interacted now train side by side, build genuine friendships, and even organize workouts beyond formal practice.

Growth That Carries Back to Work

Cody still recalls her first practice in the rain. No one left early.

“It bonded us instantly.”

For Evan, who joined Kum Shing five years ago as a Graduate Engineer and is now a Project Engineer involved in power systems and generation projects, dragon boating became a meaningful outlet beyond daily work.

“Socially, I’ve made friends from different departments and feel strong support from the team,” Evan shared. “Mentally, it taught me persistence, working hard toward goals, just like at work.”

For him, the experience reflects Kum Shing’s culture clearly. “It shows the company cares about work‑life balance and values teamwork”

Matthew, Senior Project Engineer working on MTR projects, echoes a similar view.

“Dragon boating helped me stay consistent with exercise and improve endurance. Mentally, it sharpened my focus and discipline.”

More importantly, it strengthened connection. “Training together builds trust. We share common goals, and collaboration at work becomes much easier.”

Looking Ahead

Recruitment is open to all colleagues, regardless of role, fitness level, or prior experience. Join a trial practice, cheer from the sidelines, or support behind the scenes. A positive attitude matters more than athletic ability. While roles differ, paddlers, drummers, and steerspersons are all valued equally.

As Cody puts it, “You’ll discover strength and friendship you didn’t know you had.”

With more races ahead, the Kum Shing Dragon Boat Team continues to exemplify resilience, camaraderie, and collective pride, both on and off the water. Beyond medals, the focus remains clear: refining technique, deepening bonds, and sustaining a tradition that reflects who we are.
