South Island Line (East) Power Supply System Project
South Island Line (East) Power Supply System Project
Kum Shing undertook the power system supply project for the South Island Line (East) through a joint venture, responsible for transforming the high voltage power by the power company into 415 volts for station use and 1500 volts for train system use, the power was then distributed to various stations along the line. The project commenced at the end of 2011, went through initial system studies, design, project planning, coordination, major equipment installation, and commissioning, and was successfully completed and delivered in July 2016.
During the project, Kum Shing Electrical & Mechanical Team members had to undergo training and assessment to become qualified technicians allowed to work within the site area. To avoid disrupting daytime trial runs, the work had to be conducted between midnight to 4a.m. The team not only delivered the project on time but also gained client’s recognition for the safety, quality, and management, receiving the MTR “Quality Management Award” and “Contractor Safety Management Award.”
