To support the campus expansion of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Kum Shing initiated a 400kV high-voltage cable diversion project near Oi Man Estate in November 2021. Unlike typical projects carried out on flat terrain, this time the frontline workers had to assemble cables on a slope, significantly increasing the difficulty of securing the cables. The cables involved in this diversion project collectively weigh nearly a hundred tons, making them larger and heavier than standard cables, requiring more detailed considerations during the transportation process.

The Transmission Circuits Team of the Power Systems Department has collaborated with stakeholders to plan and coordinate various construction arrangements, including temporary traffic arrangements, road closures, lifting operations, materials and equipment placement, and cable laying. Additionally, logistics personnel have engaged in discussions with district council members and community representatives before construction to minimize the impact on nearby residents.
