Kum Shing Electrical & Mechanical Team assisted Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to improve the performance of the airport’s power supply network over the next twenty years. Our core task was to replace existing HV electrical equipment to meet updated standards. In anticipation of the opening of the three-runway system (3RS), 36 11kV ring main units (RMUs) that used green technology replaced the SF6 gas-filled RMUs in the existing two-runway system (2RS). Responding to manufacturing delays caused by the pandemic, the team had been working around the clock to pursue the schedule and overcome various challenges.
