Smart Lighting System in New Territories North Pilot Project

Smart Lighting System in New Territories North Pilot Project
To cooperate with the “Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong”, Kum Shing helped the Highways Department taking the lead to carry out deploy an intelligent street lighting system in a pilot programme replacing about 600 streetlights in Yuen Long, which integrated with the multi-function lamp pole solution “City Sense”. Functions include connection between nodes, wireless network and central control station. The streetlight system can achieve energy and maintenance efficiency through dimming, adjustment of lumen, and real-time monitoring, in order to reduce energy consumption and maintenance cost.
The “City Sense” solution was developed by Kum Shing, integrated with Italy industrial design, Singaporean IT architecture and American urban design to collect real-time data through sensors in the pole, to enhance city management and other public services. It also brings information on weather, air quality and traffic conditions, as well as provides Wi-Fi hotspot coverage and electric vehicle charging services to the public.
Since 5G network requires a substantial increase in broadcast stations therefore smart lamppost is an important city infrastructure, serve as a backbone of 5G network in Hong Kong.
