Removal of Transmission Pylon in Hong Kong Island

Removal of Transmission Pylon in Hong Kong Island
Kum Shing has been awarded a contract by the HongKong Electric to remove a series of 132kV transmission pylons in Hong Kong Island, the project has achieved another milestone in the electric power infrastructure sector.
Since these transmission pylons have been out of use for years and are located in various locations, the engineering team needs to employ different methods for removal works and take safety measures. For example, some pylons are located in high-density residential areas, requiring effective communications with the community. Some pylons are located in remote mountainous regions, helicopter is used to lift the components for dismantling and transportation. Some overhead pylons cut across the major roads, requiring temporary traffic arrangements. Detailed planning and appropriate arrangements are needed to successfully complete the project.
