Furnace Hopper Replacement in CPPS Project

Furnace Hopper Replacement in CPPS Project
The annual overhaul of boiler is an important maintenance task in the Castle Peak Power Station (CPPS). Kum Shing Process & Plant Department devoted days and nights to these tasks particularly to provide support for the furnace hopper replacement for one of the boilers, which was the first replacement since its operations in over 30 years. This massive job required over half a year’s preparation, and onsite support from metal scaffolders and high-pressure welders.
During the replacement process at the bottom of the boiler, scaffolders had to lift the scaffold structure above ground to allow the engineers to work safely. The lifting team had to lift and in place 28 pieces of 70M-long tube panels formed by high-pressure tubes. Risk of distortion was the primary concern. The team fitted all the tubes to the high-pressure welded, seamlessly. Teamwork and meticulous work at the power station is worth celebrating!
