Kum Shing Civil & Building Team provided construction services to the Drainage Services Department (DSD) for the sewage collection system under the “New Engineering Contract” (NEC), building a 2-km-long trunk sewers, constructing about 7.5 km of sewers for nine unsewered areas, and one sewage pumping station with 300-meter-long twin rising mains.

Before the project was implemented, some areas of Sha Tau Kok lacked sewage collection facilities, and private sewage treatment facilities often failed to effectively remove pollutants due to insufficient maintenance, affecting the water quality of Deep Bay and the surrounding sanitary condition.

During the project, the team communicated with the project manager of DSD whenever risks that could affect construction time, cost, or quality were identified. Risk mitigation meetings were held according to the risk alert system to cooperate and seek more effective solutions. The Civil & Building Team discussed with the village committee and government departments to strike a balance between project progress and the impact on the surrounding areas. In order to minimize the impact on nearby residents, environmental protection is a very important aspect.

The project was commended in DSD’s Construction Sites Housekeeping Award Scheme for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014, reflecting not only the efforts but also the team spirit of all contract parties.
