2021.11.05 Obtained CIC Sustainable Finance Certification

In support of the government’s pledge to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050, Kum Shing Holdings is mobilizing its subsidiaries to advocate sustainable development in its operation. Its pilot projects in providing one of the largest PV systems in Kowloon and developing its EV Operation Center have successfully certified under the CIC Sustainable Finance Certification Scheme. The team was privileged to attend the recent launching ceremony of the scheme with bankers. Kumshing is strived to realize green finance in the construction industry.


2021.09.21 Testify as a Good Corporate Citizen

The engineering team at Kumshing works with the archaeological team to provide related information for the assessment of the feasibility of the construction of a pedestrian subway that connected Pak Tai Street and the MTR Sung Wong Toi Station. It is a valuable opportunity for Kumshing to participate in the archaeological survey at Pak Tai Street. While developing mobility infrastructure, Kumshing also strives to contribute to heritage preservation. This testifies our role as a good corporate citizen. Click to view the video


2021.09.03 Fostering Belt and Road Infrastructure Cooperation

CEO Rex Wong was invited as one of the speakers in the 6th Belt and Road Summit to share with other local and mainland industry practitioners about the post-pandemic international infrastructure cooperation along the Belt and Road. Seizing the opportunities brought by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Kumshing is fully equipped to use its brownfield experience to forge collaboration with international and mainland players for sustainable infrastructure development.


2021.08.06 Won Gold Award in the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme

Kumshing won 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 2 Merit awards in the 27th Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme (CCSAS). It demonstrates our commitment to the highest safety standard in all our operations across different business sectors. Kumshing colleagues drove engineering projects in numerous scales. 2021.07.23 Supporting HKCA and CIC on Lo Pan Patron’s Day

Lo Pan Patron’s Day has always been significant to the construction industry. Kumshing enjoyed a special Lo Pan Patron’s Day celebration this year. Kum Shing Group Vice-Chairman Ivan Wong led its volunteers to support the “Construction Industry Lo Pan Rice Campaign” organized by HKCA and CIC. Hot meals and goodie bags were distributed to the needy in the community.


2021.06.28 Introducing Onsite Renewable Energy Development for Newport Center

HEI, the investment, consulting and technology application arm of Kum Shing Holdings Limited, is proud to introduce onsite renewable energy development for Newport Center. With the completion of PV system on its rooftop, the heat island effect will be mitigated. The renewable energy capacity is equivalent to 3.3% of Hong Kong’s gross solar energy generation in year 2020. This action of decarbonization is comparable to planting 13,000 trees in Hong Kong!


2021.06.05 First Hong Kong Enterprise Accredited for Engineering Services in GBA

Kumshing recently became the first Hong Kong enterprise to be awarded Level 3 accreditation (namely HV power systems of 110 kV or below) by the South China Energy Regulatory Office of the National Energy Administration (國家能源局南方監管局). Equipped with this accreditation, Kumshing can implement engineering works relating to power infrastructure, including contracting, installation, maintenance and commissioning at nine municipalities in Guangdong Province. The recognition Kumshing gained is paving the way for the Corporation to step forward boldly in the Greater Bay Area.


2021.04.16 Encouraging Electrification and Promoting Zero-Emission in Construction Sites

Kumshing becomes an official signatory of “Power Up Coalition”, a new initiative led by BEC. Together with other 10-plus signatories from the industry, Kumshing will strive to optimize the use of clean energy and to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide emissions in construction sites in the long term. The Corporation’s support in this green initiative following its signing of the BEC Low Carbon Charter once again demonstrates its commitment in contributing to a low carbon and sustainable society.


2021.03.30 Cross-sector Collaboration to Build Smart City

Kumshing is glad to take part in one of the world's largest C-V2X public road tests! Together with ASTRI and other partners in the ecosystem, we are promoting smart mobility to enhance road safety and efficiency. This indeed has laid a strong foundation for the development of smart city. Our contribution to the project is a reflection on how we carry out our role as an energy and mobility infrastructure specialist.


2021.02.05 Drive Green, Drive Safely

Over three hundred of Kumshing vehicles joined its first “Smart Drive Challenge” in 2020 to promote green and safe driving. Kumshing gears to de-carbonize in its business operation and proactively promotes proper driving to minimize carbon footprint. Being a long-standing advocate of environmental protection, Kumshing is glad to share the continual effort of its staff to take part in this de-carbonization journey. Fuel was saved and safety performance was significantly enhanced in 2020.


2021.01.30 Warehouse expansion in Fanling

To cope with soaring need for warehouse space, Kumshing is expanding its storage capacity into the New Territories. A new warehouse in Fanling with 15,000 square feet of space will be used to stock switchgear and replenishment parts. The new warehouse is also the base station for our smart meter team, enabling them to conveniently pick up new smart meters each day, for swift installation across the New Territories. Together with a new testing center, the Fanling warehouse supports our business growth.


2020.12.15 Cultivating Business Resilience in Times of Uncertainty

As 2020 draws to a close, it has been a wildly unpredictable and unprecedented year. However, Kumshing's business has proven highly resilient. Kumshing responded rapidly to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with a host of initiatives and measures to help employees through the difficult times. Flexibility in Kumshing's business operation is key to keeping the workforce safe. Kumshing also participated in charity activities to distribute much-needed supplies to underprivileged families in the local district. Contributions to the “Construction Industry Caring Campaign – Fight Against Novel Coronavirus” were made to support the industry and community.


2020.11.08 Appointment of Rex Wong as Justice of the Peace

Huge congratulations to CEO Rex Wong on his appointment as a Justice of the Peace (JP). This honorary title is given by the Government in recognition of community leaders. Since 2011, Rex has served on a number of government advisory and statutory bodies, advising local policy makers. At the industry level, his active participation in Hong Kong Construction Association and Construction Industry Council earned him a reputation as a passionate advocate for construction quality and safety. Rex’s service is made possible by the support of his colleagues at Kumshing, a responsible corporate citizen recognized as a Caring Company for more than 15 years.


2020.09.23 Awarded 15-year contract for Chemical Waste Treatment Center

Kumshing has been awarded the 15-year-long Chemical Waste Treatment Center Second Follow-On Contract by Environmental Protection Department (EPD) through a joint venture with Ecospace Limited. Kumshing will be playing a key role in the design and construction of a replacement incineration line, clinical waste sterilization system and the replacement of various major equipment. Following its remarkable involvement in the T-PARK (The Sludge Treatment Facilities) earlier, Kumshing is proud to work for EPD to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of this one and only chemical waste treatment center in Hong Kong.


2020.08.03 Stepping up to fulfill decarbonization commitment

This year Kumshing is an official signatory of the BEC Low Carbon Charter, joining its clients AA, CLP, HKE and the 60 other signatories from various sectors in Hong Kong's important and ongoing journey to long-term carbon phasedown. The BEC Low Carbon Charter is an environmental initiative launched by the Business Environment Council (BEC) in 2019 that interlocks with the government’s decarbonization initiatives. Under the Charter, signatories must ‘walk the talk’ by advocating the setting and implementation of decarbonization targets, as well as sharing their annual progress. Kumshing’s joining of the Charter further strengthens its role as a passionate advocate of low-carbon practices and a key player in the ecosystem. With steadfast commitment to environmental protection, Kumshing always strives to achieve environmental excellence by advocating the use of clean practices in and outside the workplace.


2020.07.31 Sewerage upgrade contract won in West Kowloon and Tsuen Wan

Kumshing has long actively supported Drainage Services Department (DSD) to build and upgrade the world-class drainage system it operates in Hong Kong. Securing the contract - Upgrading of West Kowloon & Tsuen Wan Sewerage – Phase 2A means Kumshing will be responsible for replacing and upgrading 14 kilometers gravity sewers, rehabilitating 6 existing sewer crossing within stormwater box culverts and constructing 2 new dry weather flow interceptors and ancillary works. All the works will be carried out in the densely populated districts of Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Cheung Sha Wan and Kowloon Tong. This is a significant milestone for us in the public works sector. Kumshing is handling both the civil and E&M works for DSD.
